A better brief starts with the outcome
Move beyond feature requests by writing briefs that clarify the change you want to create for customers.

Describe the future before the feature
A strong brief begins with the behavior or condition that should be different when the work succeeds. This gives design and engineering room to explore while keeping the team aligned on what must be true at the end.
Include the evidence behind the opportunity, the audience affected, and the constraints that cannot move. Avoid prescribing every interaction too early. Precision about the outcome creates more freedom in the solution.
Make uncertainty part of the brief
Name the assumptions that carry the most risk and explain how the team can test them. A brief should not pretend certainty; it should help the team spend uncertainty deliberately.
